Maine: The land of the WILD BLUEBERRY!

Here is a note of caution--when in Maine, watch out for the Wild Blueberry! It might just sit on a bush and look juicy. I am slightly bummed that we didn't stop here at the HUGE blueberry building on the side of the road in Maine. Somehow though, I am pretty sure that all there is inside is a huge variety of blueberry products for purchase. This wild blueberry was spotted along the side of the road east of Bar Harbor. I believe we were on Route 1, but don't quote me on it.

I took this photo last summer just before we got lost in a blue patch that went on forever! The commercial blueberry business in Maine has acres and acres and ACRES of lowbush blueberries. And every acre looks the same. And there aren't any road signs. We had a GPS unit and we still had trouble figuring out where the heck we were. We did find a lake to sample and we did make it back to Rt. 9. Then we went to the Cozy Inn of Brewer, Maine, but THAT is a different story!
