It isn't often that I get a chance to take care of other people's kittens. Okay, it hasn't ever happened before. But in 2006, our friends Shane & Gabby needed someone to watch their darling little kittens, Puggy & Puttie (I hope I spelled the names right. I am always getting that wrong). Since Brady and I were still living in Lee, NH, it wasn't much of a stretch to go to Stratham for weekend. Brady and I took it in turns. I spent one night there and he spent the next.
When I was there, I took pictures of the cute little kittens. This is a picture of Puggy with my wrist brace as a measuring stick. He was TINY! The best part about Puggy is that he would actually curl up on me or Brady, go to sleep, and PURR! For a little kitten, he had the BIGGEST purr ever. Once, when I was over at the kitty house, Puggy fell asleep on me instead of his mama. Gabby said I had to leave at that point--he was only kidding! Puggy also fell asleep on Brady while he was watching an A-Team marathon on TV. That doesn't sound exciting to me, but if you know Brady, you will understand.
The other amazing thing about Puggy was his love of the "Cat Dancer". It is the world's simplest cat toy, but the very best one there it. It is just a wire with rolled up bits of brown paper on the end. Puggy usually wore me out before he grew tired of hopping, jumping, chasing, and attacking the Cat Dancer. It really made him dance.
Of course, the thing I was most jealous about was that Puttie & Puggy LOVED each other. How sweet that they would sleep together or lick each other. Our cats will never do that. ARG! They always seemed to be playing together or looking for each other.
If you haven't picked up on it yet, I have been referring to Puggy in the past tense. Poor little Puggy went to sleep for the last time on Monday night. He was a little fighter. Being the runt, he had under developed kidneys and a heart murmur. It was the kidneys that gave out finally.
POOR PUGGY! POOR PUTTIE! POOR GABBY! POOR SHANE!
(I did offer to give Puggy one of Schmooshy's or Rocky's kidneys, but they didn't like that offer would it have worked. Our cats at too cranky)
Such a good boy. I miss him already.
