Isn't she DARLING???????

This is a teen-age picture of our cat Schmooshy. I just had to show this off to the world. I haven't send this into Cat of the Day so I thought I would publish Schmooshy's picture here. I sent in a picture of Rocky about 3 months ago and I haven't heard back from the Cat of the Day people yet. Maybe they don't think Rocky is cute enough. Anyway, as Schmoosh would say (in a very cranky voice) "That is ENOUGH about Rocky! Tell the world about ME!"

Schmooshy came into my life when she was 3 1/2 weeks old. I was visiting my friend Susan in Bethel, Maine, and we stopped at a friend of hers. This friend had two mommy cats that had two litters of kittens that all needed homes. Well, to be completely accurate, Schmooshy's mom had been run over by car that week so one litter was orphaned. I wasn't going to take a kitten because I was in school for my teaching certificate and it was a difficult program. But, when Susan put a kitten in my arms, I started to melt. I put that kitten down because I just couldn't keep a kitten. Then, Schmooshy came out of the pack towards me and mewed. I HAD to take her home. She was soft and squishy so I named her "Schmooshy

I drove home with Schmooshy on my lap. She didn't get car sick at all. So, I had a KITTEN! She was such a sweet kitten but she did have a few bad habits. She liked to climb the kitchen tablecloth with her claws. She also liked to take flying leaps onto my leg with her claws out. She also mewed a lot when I did dishes. Once I put her on the counter while I was washing the dishes and she walked over to the sink and FELL IN! That was her first bath and she didn't like it! I even took her to Illinois with me when I went back for Christmas. That is when I took this picture. She is about 6 months old in this shot. The best part was that she held her own even then. Schmooshy didn't take any garbage from Big Kitty or Puff even if they weren't doing a thing to her. Quite a few times, Schmooshy smacked Puff in the face for no good reason. Brady remembers that once Puff had enought of this harassment and scared Schmooshy by sneaking up on her. Go Puff, GO!

So, those are my memories of my cute little Schmooshy. I just wish she and Rocky could get along. But some things are never to be! Let me know if you have any Schmooshy memories!

I took this pic, for what it's worth- I happened to have a camera in hand as Schmooshy walked by. I said, "Hey Schmoosh, let me take your picture!" She stopped in mid-walk, waited for me to take the picture, and went on her merry way right after. Kind soul.
