A trip to the local pond

Out at Barbadoes Pond Posted by Picasa

We went to Barbadoes Pond yesterday to collect water and animal samples. I am helping the three boys in the boat set traps and collect zooplankton samples. The goal is to determine any variation in toxin levels in the lake. We gathered crayfish and pumkinseed fish from both ends of the pond and are processing the livers to detect toxins. It is quite advanced really. I wonder if my thesis will ever be this advanced. Not at the rate I'm going!

Anyway, these guys are working to age the fish and measure the crayfish in addition to the toxin analysis. I'll keep you up to date on anything that comes of this study.
