Here's looking at you , kid!

This is the bug that came home with me from the Lee Transfer Station on my windshield wiper. It was so determined to stick it just kept clinging on even when I was going 55 mph on Rte 125. With my extensive background in entomology, I am calling this a long horned beetle. I don't think it the Asian Long Horn beetle. At least, I hope it isn't. Supposedly there are native species that only bore into trees a little bit.

I took pictures of this guy on the windshield but the pictures weren't as good as my artsy picture here. This beetles antennae are soooo long, they couldn't fit in the picture.

After the five minute photo shoot, this beetle had enough and flew off into the wild blue yander. It was heading toward the pine trees next to our apartment building. I wonder if he was going for lunch.

By the way - since you take such good good bug pictures do you think you can find a good picture of a brown recluse spider? I have yet to find a good one so don't know if I'm looking at one or not.

Hey! Glad you've been prolific again! I love your blog and your pics! It's really a glimpse into another world. Boy, hard to believe we once lived in the same town, cuz my life in Berlin could not be more different than yours in rural New England. I haven't been out of the city in months! I miss animals! There are dogs (and dog shit) everywhere here but I never get to play with any (dogs, not dog shit).
