Okay, maybe you will, but I am going to tell you anyway. Before we went to the goat farm, I volunteered at NHPR to answer the telephones. I was there early with Brady so of course I took a nap on the couch in the front room of the radio station. Brady woke me up before anyone else showed up.
We were supposed to answer phones from 8 am to noon. There was one little problem: the phones didn't work! The phones were supposed to ring at our little volunteer desks, but that wasn't happening. The main phone wouldn't transfer the calls and it wouldn't even ring! The employee trying to make the phones ring would just pick up the phone and ask the person on the phone for their name and number. Then I would go to a phone in another room and call that person back.
Turns out there was something wrong with the phones themselves. It finally got fixed at 10:30. And they still sold 800 tickets that morning! We even called the winning ticket holder to tell him he had won the $20,000 toward a new car. It wasn't me or anyone I knew.
But, a lot of money was raised for NHPR, which is great. That means they will keep paying Brady when he goes in to do All Things Condsidered or Morning Edition. (I am kidding, they always pay him!)
So, that is what I did on Saturday.
