Just call me the media darling. The above picture was in yesterday's Rochester Times but I didn't even know it was out. Brady and I stopped for lunch at a bakery along Rt. 125 and I just happened to glance at the free papers in the window. Low and behold, I WAS IN IT! The picture was taken on June 11th up in Milton. I didn't even think to look for this picture. Thank goodness this is a free paper. I have a bunch of copies and will forward one to anyone who emails me! (Hey, I could even sign it for you!)
But lest you think this is my only media encounter this week, I was also mentioned on New Hampshire Public Radio. I went with Brady to work this morning to help answer the phones. It was the kick off for the Car Raffle so I helped answer the phones and talked to a bunch of New Hampshire and Vermont residents. Such giving people! Of course, my name was announced on the air by Jon Greenberg, Executive Editor of NHPR, as one of the volunteers. I like to help out at NHPR; they give us free food and a choice of extra books they got from interviewees. I got a copy of Unforgivable Blackness. Sounds like a great book! I'll let you know how it was.
And there is more! Supposedly, (we don't have cable so I didn't see it) I was on the 11 pm channel 9 newscast on Wednesday. I was interviewed earlier this month about Freecycle. I brought my finds and things I was giving away in to school with me and two guys from WMUR came out to interview me. They were there for about 45 minutes. I am very sure it was only a few minutes long on the news, but tons of people signed up for Freecycle afterwards. I guess I said the right things!
I didn't get on Cubs.com like Derek Lee though. (Hey, you can can still vote for him for the All-Star gameif you haven't given away your 25 votes yet! I had to get this in somehow.) So, now you know someone famous--ME! And I didn't make any disparaging remarks about psychiatry or Ritalin. Any fan comments can be made here.
